Learning from other Internet Marketers Mistakes can Save you Time and Money

Yes we all make mistakes, you, me everyone….

The key is learning from these mistakes and learning from other peoples mistakes.

So who is guilty of not learning from our mistakes and repeating the mistake again?

Yes I certainly am, and I am sure that you probably are.

Look, how many times have you bought a product on the internet,  looked at it for 20 minutes and then filed it in the depths of your ever bulging hard drive. More than once….

I am sure if we can admit to ourselves that we make mistakes and realise that when a mistake is made we must learn from it.

Ask Questions to yourself like…

Why has the mistake happened?

What lead to the mistake happening?

What can I do to prevent it happening again?

What positive thing can I take forward from that mistake happening?

How to get ahead of the mistakes and avoid them….

As my mentor Alex Jeffreys explained in a recent coaching webinar, there are 3 types of people.

Here’s the slide…..

We have confirmed that we have all been at the first stage of not learning from our mistakes, and I am sure we have a learned from other mistakes that we have made, every day in life we are learning.

But how many of us are learning from other people’s mistakes, let me explain.

When you are listening to an audio or video on Internet Marketing from one of the Guru’s and they are talking about how they built their business, I bet you when you look at the notes you have taken they are all about new tasks to do to build your business. (Like we need more on our Infinite To Do List).

Instead when they say things like “I don’t do this to drive traffic” or “I couldn’t get that to work for me” your ears should prick up and listen in. If they are saying it doesn’t work then it probably won’t work for you. So why spend that precious time trying them techniques or system etc, when you could be concentrating on other more productive tasks.

If the interviewer has been armed with the right questions to prompt the expert or if you are lucky enough to get to talk to one yourself then ask them,

What mistakes have they learnt from in their business?

What have they tried and didn’t work?

What areas/techniques/systems/etc  would they avoid?

I wanted to take this one step further and give you a list of my mistakes….

To be honest this is as much for me as you, If I publish some of my mistakes then I make myself accountable for them and hopefully I will learn more from them and avoid them in the future. (is that reverse psychology on myself? lol.)

But I hope this will help you as well, in fact if you want to make yourself accountable or even offer some advice on how you have learnt from your mistakes. Then please leave a comment below I will be personally replying to everyone.

Over the coming days I will be producing a series of videos showing you how I have overcome these mistakes. SO please check back for them.
